Westcare Medical Centre has been providing high quality medical care to the people of Melton since 1989.
The business of Westcare is owned and managed by our principal doctors, which allows us to maintain our independence from corporate or industry influence.
We are passionate about training the next generation of Melton GPs, and have won awards for our teaching and for the quality of our service.

Dr Stark has been with Westcare since 2005, and has been a Partner since 2007. He is a GP supervisor, spending much of his time on teaching and practice management.
Dr Jacobs was one of the original founders of Westcare in 1989, and he is the Senior Partner. He has committed himself to teaching and training over many years, and his achievements have been recognised with Supervisor of the Year awards.
Dr Shah has been a Partner at Westcare since 2007, and has a number of special clinical interests. He teaches medical students from the University of Melbourne.
Dr Varane has been a Partner at Westcare since 2007. He trains medical students from the University of Medicine and has a special interest in Dermatology and Skin Cancer medicine.
Dr Heyman has been with Westcare for over 20 years, and has a special interest in counselling and psychological therapies.
Dr Duguid, who was originally a registrar at Westcare, works 2 days per week and maintains special interest in Family Planning and sexual health.
Dr Anurathan has commited to Melton after completing her training, and has special interests in Women’s Health and Obstetrics, taking on shared care pregnancies.
Dr Thai joined Westcare as a registrar in 2011 and won the Gutch medal for her exam performance. She is also a qualified acupunturist.
Dr Wojtasiak is a GPT4 registrar, and has recently passed her Fellowship exams.
Dr Nguyen is unfortunately on extended leave. She started at Westare in 2010 as a registrar, and we look forward to her return in due course.
Dr Shattock started at Westcare as a registrar in 2002. She is still a regular favourite, and works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dr Griffiths has been at Westcare since the early days, and works Wednesdays to Fridays.
Dr Morrissey came to Westcare during her training, and has been in Melton ever since. She has a strong interest in Youth Health, Women’s Health and Sexual Health, and in teaching these subjects.
Dr Duvel joined Westcare in early 2012, having migrated from his previous home in Canada. He has a special interest in minor surgery and cosmetic medicine including botox injections. He is studying for a Masters degree in Skin Cancer Surgery.
Dr Hamblen migrated from the UK in 2009 to join Westcare, and works 4 days per week. She has broad clinical interests including Women’s Health, and is able to insert IUDs/Mirena in the clinic.
Dr Vergara works 4 days per week, and is a supervisor of medical students, and a new supervisor of GP registrars. He has a special interest in Men’s Health, and Minor Surgery, as well as general practice.
Dr Gladigau works 5 days per week. She started here as a Registrar and won the Gutch medal for best performance in Victoria in her Fellowship exams in 2014. She is currently undertaking training with the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.
Dr Murray works 4 days per week. She started at Westcare as a GP Registrar in 2012.
Tracy has been the CEO of Westcare since 2008, and is the lynch-pin for the clinic’s day to day operations as well as the strategic and clinical direction. Her achievements have been recognised nationally, as the Practice Manager of the year 2013 in Victoria, and a finalist for the Australian award.
Juliet takes on the new role of clinical coordinator, in charge of expanding and enhancing the nursing services, developing new services and research opportunities.
Michele is our longest serving Practice Nurse, with a wealth of experience. A familiar face to almost everyone, and valued by all who meet her.
Liz has returned for a second term at Westcare, in the final stages of her Registrar training.
Dr PJ joined Westcare in 2013 moving to Melton from Bendigo. He is a very experienced GP having spent many years in rural South Australia and Victoria, and has helped Westcare establish a connection with CMC Vellore.
Dr Thotadur joined Westcare as a PGPPP in 2012, and then returned as a registrar. She is making a commitment to practise in Melton, and has rapidly built an excellent reputation in the community.
Dr Chambers started at Westcare in 2011, and worked in New Zealand and the UK before coming to Australia. She is working Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays after taking maternity leave in 2013.
Dr Taylor has joined Westcare for a 3 month PGPPP placement. She has worked at Western Health, and will return to the hospital to continue her training in November.
Dr Janiak started with Westcare as a GP Registrar in 2012, and has returned to practise here after gaining Fellowship. She works 4 days per week.
Dr Wee started as a Registrar in 2013. He achieved Fellowship of the College in 2015. Please click the arrow icon to read Dr Wee’s biography.
Dr Plastow joined Westcare in 2015 as a GP Registrar. She is currently on extended leave.
Dr Chan has started at Westcare in August 2015 as a GP Registrar.
Dr Mee has started at Westcare in August 2015 as a GP Registrar.
Dr Hoang has started in February 2016 as a GP Registrar.
Dr Svalbe has returned to Westcare in February 2016 as a GP Registrar.
Dr Kearney has returned to Westcare in February 2016 as a GP Registrar.
Holly is a GP registrar in her third term, currently sitting her Fellowship exams.
Sumita joined Westcare in 2016 and is already building a loyal following. She trained in the UK originally, before migrating to Melbourne. She is a medical educator at the MCCC.
